Branding Pentest Reports in the Free Reporting Tool
Your logo, colours and fonts in our free reporting tool, your sign-in page and company details, and every report in your brand, from the built-in PDF styled your way to your own Word template.
To brand pentest reports in our free reporting tool, an administrator sets your look under Settings, Branding, your sign-in page under Login Page, your company details under Company, and your testing addresses under Assessments. Reports then come out in your brand two ways: the built-in PDF, styled from Settings, PDF & DOCX, or your own Word template filled in by the tool, with a PDF made from it in your browser if you like.
Your look
Under Settings, Branding, the Branding & Appearance card holds your colours: the Accent, a colour for each severity, the alert colours, and each theme’s background, surface, text and muted colours, with Auto text working the text colours out for you. Theme offers Dark & Light, with a switch for each person at the foot of the sidebar, Dark Only or Light Only. Reference codes can be bold. Sync from Report copies the severity colours from your built-in PDF, and Save colours and theme keeps them.
Logos and the favicon are saved as soon as you choose a file: a Dark-mode logo, ideally an SVG of about 400 by 100 pixels, a Light-mode logo and a 32-pixel square Favicon. Upload one logo and it is used on both themes; upload both and each theme gets its own. Fonts are saved the same way, with Headings, Body text and Monospace for the app and its sign-in page. Report fonts are set on each report’s template instead.
The sign-in page
Settings, Login Page is the page your team signs in on: its Page Title, Login Heading, Login Subtitle, Support Email and Custom Footer Text, and whether it shows your logo, your company name and the heading (Show Logo, Show Company Name, Show Heading). The pages around it, from a forgotten password to the second factor, show your logo too, or your firm’s name in your colour where there is none.
Company details and testing IPs
Settings, Company holds the details your reports carry: Company Name, Company Ending, Company Email, Company Phone, Company Website, Company Number and Company Address. Settings, Assessments lists the public addresses your team tests from, under Public Testing IP Addresses, and your reports state them as where the testing came from. How dates are written in your documents is under Settings, PDF & DOCX, Dates.
The built-in PDF
Every engagement’s report is a PDF in your brand from the first finding, with nothing to upload. Under Settings, PDF & DOCX, the Built-in PDF & DOCX Customiser opens the report’s Template Editor, in six tabs.
| Tab | What you set there |
|---|---|
| Cover Page | The banner’s colours, the title and subtitle, a classification marking, the engagement details shown, your own cover text, and full-page images for the front and back covers. |
| Sections & Order | Which sections the report has and their order, each starting a new page, and your own introductions to them. |
| Findings | The fields on each finding’s page and their order, what its header bar shows, and the summary page. |
| Appendices | The appendix sections, their order and your own text for them. |
| Text & Labels | Section headings, table headers, the document history rows and the standard paragraphs the report uses. |
| Style | Header and accent colours, the link colour, fonts and sizes, severity colours and how a severity reads, margins and a page border, a watermark, a classification header and the page footer. |
Beside it, PDF Footer, Left Side puts your company name or your logo in every PDF’s footer, and, once you have uploaded a light-mode logo, Logo used in PDFs chooses which logo goes on a white page.
Your own Word template
For a report that looks exactly like the one you send now, make it your template under Settings, PDF & DOCX, and every report is your template filled in. There are three ways in: the Document Builder, above the template rows, and the Report row’s Draft and Placeholder Key, beside its Upload button.
| Start from | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Draft | A ready-made template in your colours with every placeholder in it, your own fields included, to change in Word and upload. |
| Document Builder | Open the Document Builder and upload a report you already send. With AI set up, it takes the last engagement out and puts the fields where it was, every change is marked for you to check, and you preview the real pages before saving. |
| Placeholder Key | Every placeholder you can place, your own fields included, for building a template by hand. |
Upload more than one template and choose which is the default; the arrow beside the report’s button picks another. Styles shows the Word styles picked for code, headings, captions and lists. Tick Produce the PDF automatically and each report is also made into a PDF, contents page and page numbers included, in your browser: the Word-to-PDF engine comes from cdn.zetaoffice.net, and your document is not uploaded anywhere. AI pentest report writing sets up the AI the Document Builder uses.
File names
Settings, File Naming sets the name each download takes, for the report as Word or PDF and for each kind of findings export, from tokens such as {client}, {assessment}, {date} and {year}.
In the Portal, your clients sign in to a portal of their own on your domain, in the same brand. With your brand in place, editing a pentest report in Word takes a report out for review and back, and self-hosting a free pentest reporting tool shares the tool with your team.
