Reporting in Another Consultancy’s Word Template
Doing overflow work for another consultancy? Keep their Word template beside your own, choose it for their engagements, and every other client keeps getting your report.
Testing firms take overflow work from each other all the time, and the report a client receives carries the name of the firm they hired. In Pental each kind of document can hold several Word templates, so the consultancy whose work it is gets the report in its own style, and your own clients keep getting yours.
Add their template beside yours
- Open Settings, the PDF & DOCX tab, and its Document Templates card.
- On the report’s row, press Add Template and choose the consultancy’s .docx. If they sent a finished report rather than a template, Open the Document Builder turns it into one, as making your Word template the one Pental fills describes.
- Press Rename on the new row and give it the consultancy’s name, so nobody picks it by mistake.
One template on each row is marked Default, and it is what the report’s download button makes. Keep your own as the default; Set as default moves it if you ever need to.
Choose theirs for their engagements
On an engagement, the report’s button makes your default. The arrow beside it lists the other templates: choose the consultancy’s, and the report is filled into their document, with their cover, headings and tables around your findings. Filling is mechanical, so the same engagement in the same template comes out the same every time, as a report template that renders the same every time explains.
Who is offered its PDF
With Produce the PDF automatically ticked on the report’s row, each template says whose download menu its PDF appears in. Convert for us puts it in your own, and Convert for the client in your clients’ menus as well. For another consultancy’s template, Convert for us on its own keeps it in your team’s hands, to send to the consultancy, and out of your other clients’ menus.
The same goes for anything else they brand: an attestation letter has a row of its own, and can hold their template beside yours in the same way.
Working the other way
When your firm hands its own overflow to another consultancy instead, their testers work inside your portal and your report goes out as usual. External testers and teams for overflow pentest work covers that, and what white-labelling actually buys a testing firm is worth a read on reports that carry somebody else’s name.
Add a Second Report Template
Upload two report templates in the trial, make your own the default, and download one engagement’s report in each.
